High Heel Shoes for the Office

Ask any person to picture a successful looking career woman. Most likely, that person will describe someone on very smart suit, with a smarter pair of pants or a skirt to boot, and of course, a sleek pair of high heels. One look and you know that that woman means serious business. Well, the heels make the woman, really. There is a distinct difference between a woman in heels and a woman in flats when dealing business.

The thing is, aside from power dressing, the act of wearing heels also depends on one’s office dress code and work background. If your work is mostly done sat down, then the heels can be of no problem. They can just come off as “formality”. Try to check most of the female bank tellers whose most work is done sat down. They usually hide a pair of comfy footwear underneath the tables and just use the heels when walking around the office. (But you didn’t hear it from me!)

However, if the nature of one’s work is something that will demand standing up, going around, running errands, then if heels are insisted, perhaps they are of the most comfortable kind, like wedges for example.

Mostly, the heeled shoes recommended for business wear are those which are close toed and are made in neutral or mostly dark colors (like black, brown, gray, navy blue). Just save the juicy colored ones (especially orange, yellow and purple) for mall strolls and night outs.

When talking about size, forego the chunky ones and go for sleek looking ones with a sleek finish. Preferably no bold designs, and bold patterns and heels must be up to only 3.5 inches only. Unless you want to limp inside your office after ten minutes of standing through a product presentation.

Lastly, it’s advisable to maintain comfort as your main swayer in checking out heeled shoes for the office. This is because if you’re comfortable, you’re also more productive in your work. Better not let those heels make you break a sweat!
